To achieve this, they are commercializing a handheld device that uses algorithms developed from machine learning techniques. DermaSensor is currently in their 3rd clinical study to demonstrate the effectiveness of its patented technology. DermaSensor’s founder, Maurice Ferre, is a serial entrepreneur that has run and exited multiple medical device companies. Most recently Dr. Ferre took public and then sold MAKO Surgical to Stryker.

Anabetsy Rivero, CEO of Metastatic AI

Anabetsy Rivero is the CEO of Metastatic AI, a Miami-based startup focused on diagnosing breast cancer. Born and raised in Cuba, she moved to Miami in 2007 where she attended The Honors College Dual Language Program and University of Miami. In 2011, she was one of only 40 students in the nation to attend the Latino Leadership Initiative at  Harvard Kennedy School of Government, leading to features in Latina magazine, CNN en Español, and Fox News. After the Latino Leadership Initiative, she was invited to conduct cancer and stem cell research at Dr. Robert Sackstein’s lab at Harvard Medical School. The Sackstein lab further fueled her passion to cure cancer and improve the human condition. During her years doing research in cancer, genomics, and protein-protein interactions, she realized that learning programming was essential to bioinformatic analysis. She then taught herself computer programming and got accepted to the masters in computer science at Nova Southeastern University, where she specialized in data science and artificial intelligence. During her time at NSU, she met Dr. Saeed Rajput and, soon after, they started building a deep learning library that would eventually become Metastatic AI. In the future, she hopes to combine her scientific and technological skills to bring intelligent personalized medicine to the clinic.
